History of APRC
Avoidant Personality Research Center has a long and rich history as it's gotten to where it is today...
Phillip first got the vision for helping others fill their needs in May of 2013. The idea behind Needs Met was a simple one. Find a need, meet that need, then the need is met. Needs Met took care of physical needs like Food, Clothing, Gas as well as other needs.
He searched everywhere for someone willing to help him turn the idea into a 501c3 nonprofit, but there was no one he could afford. In spite of the mountain of paperwork, and everyone telling him that it would be an impossible task to take on, he felt he was supposed to do it. So he got started.
After several months, he finally completed the paperwork and turned it into the IRS. In July of 2014, he was awarded the 501c3 and Needs Met Inc became an entity.
Needs Met helped thousands of people with things like:
- Gas for vehicles so people could get back and forth to their newfound jobs
- Baby strollers for new mothers that could not afford them
- Gas for vehicles of people that were on the run from abusive relationships
- Food for people that could not afford it
- Clothing for those that needed it
- Interview attire for job seekers
Even though Needs Met was doing good things, Phillip always has a nagging feeling that there was a need that was not being met. Seeking counsel from his wife, she told him he was in the "Right Church, Wrong Pew".
After much thought and prayer, one day Phillip gave in and decided that he needed to change course. He changed the name to Avoidant Personality Resource Center (APRC). APRC would still meet needs, but this time, instead of physical needs, it would be mental health needs.
Phillip suffered from a mental health condition called Avoidant Personality for over 40 years. Now he would share this success with others and help them find the way out of AVP.
Avoidant Personality was the right thing to take on, but something still did not seem to fit. He did not want to simply provide resources for people to go to other organizations for help.
He wanted APRC to be the premier resource for anyone that suffered from Avoidant Personality. So we changed our name one more time. This time we would be known as Avoidant Personality Research Center.
This website and APRC is the culmination of a lifelong dream and vision to;
- Help those struggling from Avoidant Personality
- Help Loved Ones that are struggling to be in a successful relationship with someone that has AVPD, or they suspect may have AVPD
- Raise awareness for Avoidant Personality
- Teach businesses, Churches and Mental Health orgs about Avoidant Personality
- Research Avoidant Personality, including those that suffer from it, and Loved Ones
APRC now has a small but dedicated team that is working with Phillip to see these projects come to life!
